Child & Teen Counseling

The growing years are often challenging for children and adults. Has your child expressed issues in emotional regulation, difficulties in school, or perhaps with peers? Maybe you have noticed difficulty sitting still, concentrating, or grades slipping. While all of these symptoms are normal for a growing, developing child, there comes a time when support may be in their best interest.

common reasons a child or teen may benefit from counseling:

  • Difficulty regulating emotions

  • Angry outbursts

  • Death of a loved one or pet

  • Difficulty or disinterest in building relationships with peers

  • Excessive worries, fears, nightmares, or frequent bouts of anxiety

  • Difficulty focusing, or hyperactivity

  • Divorce or parental separation*

  • Bullying

  • Difficulty navigating puberty

  • Body dysmorphia

  • Worsening performance in school

  • Lack of motivation

  • Obsessions or compulsions

  • Self-harm

*Please note that counselors must be trained to appear in court. I am not a counselor who offers services related to parental custody/court battles.

*Additionally, I do not recommend children under age 12 to participate in teletherapy sessions. Historically they have had issues with concentration, engagement, and staying still. To get the best bang for your buck, I recommend most children to have sessions in-office.
